WHAT'S NEW AT LONG ...   

• This Friday, January 27th, is Early Release.  All students must be picked up at 1:00 PM. 

• Long will be hosting the TMSCA Math & Science Competition on February 25.  Many volunteers are needed. Click here to go to the volunteer page and see you how you can help.

• Report cards were sent home with all students on Tuesday, January 24th.

• The Second Annual Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament, benefiting J.L. Long Middle School sports, is coming up THIS SATURDAY January 28, 2012.  Click here to go to the Sports Booster Club page for more information.  Sign up today!

• Baseball & Softball Tryouts are coming up in February.  Softball tryouts will be on February 6th at 4:10.  Baseball tryouts will be on February 14th at 4:10.  Tryouts are open to 7th and 8th grade students.

• Parent Portal is back! Parents can request their verification code by contacting Ms. Raquel Lopez, our Parent Portal coordinator. She can be reached at rfloreslopez@dallasisd.org or 972-502-4709. Once you have registered, you will have on-line, real-time access to your student’s grades. Parents with previous access will have to register again since this is a completely new system.

• At Long we love our volunteers!  We encourage parents and guardians to get involved at the school.  Whether it's chaperoning a field trip, volunteering in the lunch room or working with the PTA, we welcome your help.  NOTE:  All volunteers must registered with DISD in order to work in ANY capacity.  It's an easy process to register.  Click here for instructions.

• All Long students should be reading at least 20 minutes a night, Monday - Thursday.  The RAH (Reading at Home) Program encourages students to read daily.  There at RAH reading logs that are due each Friday to the students' Reading or Language Arts teachers.  Click here for a copy of the Reading Log.
