The J.L. Long Community has been asked to volunteer at the Swiss Ave Home Tour. Proceeds from this tour benefit local schools in our area including J.L. Long. Please consider giving your volunteer hours to this worthy cause.
The home at 4912 Swiss Ave and the tour bus would be best for parent volunteers. Savage Park would be great for the kids needing volunteer hours, i.e. NJHS + NHS. Click below to sign up to help!

Ways to Help
Reading Mastery Class Needs Books - ASAP!!
Ms. Howard's Reading Mastery Class is in desperate need of 30 copies of "Forged by Fire" by Sharon Draper as soon as possible. Ms. Howard's class needs another way to prep for STAAR testing, and this novel series seems to pique their interest.
Copies may be found at Half Price Books or online. Donated copies can be left in the Main Office for Ms. Howard. Thank you for any help you can give!
Boyd Family Fund and Meal Train
My love for this community runs deep and a big part of what I love and admire is our ability to support our friends and neighbors in times of joy and sorrow. Many of you have asked how we can assist the Boyds in their time of need. Below are the links to the meal train set up by their family, a link for the Boyd Family Fund, set up by Friends for Long and a heartfelt email from Mr. Boyd.

Help Ms. Schmidt get the Band to DC for the Veterans Day Parade in November!
Our students were invited to perform in Washington DC at the Parade of Heroes Veterans Day Ceremony -- and they are the ONLY middle school from Texas invited to participate. We need to raise a lot of money to give EVERY child the chance to go! Please help if you can!

J.L. Long Cheer Squad Wins 1st Place at National Cheer Competition in San Antonio!
The J.L. Buccaneer Cheer Squad kicked, tumbled and stunted their way into first place at National Competition in San Antonio April 17th. Led by Kareeme Hawkins, the girls worked tirelessly through the last few months and it all paid off on the stage at Six Flags Fiesta Texas with an awesome performance of pyramids, choreographed dancing and plenty of ovations. We are so proud of the way these girls came together and showed how teamwork can truly payoff. Great job Buccaneer Cheer!! Way to bring home the hardware.
Check out their award winning performance!
Congratulations to the Sapphire Dance Team on their amazing performance at the Annual Dance Festival and Adjudication!
