Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is October 27 – October 31. Red Ribbon Week is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs.
During this time, we are celebrating Drug Awareness Week with activities! Every day, we will have a theme to address the occasion. We would love to have 100% participation. While we have this chance to have fun and show our personal commitment to a drug- free lifestyle, remember that you must stay within the dress code guidelines.
Monday-October 27th - "Don't Sweat It" - Wear Your Sweats
Tuesday-October 28th - “As A Team, We Will Stand Up Against Drugs” - Wear your favorite team jersey.
Wednesday-October 29th - “Put a Cap on Drugs” - Wear your favorite cap.
Thursday-October 30th - “I “Mustache” You Not To Do Drugs" - Wear a Fake Mustache
Friday-October 31th - “Scare Drugs Away” - Wear Your Super Hero Shirt with Jeans
Lakewood Home Tour Volunteers Needed
JL Long is responsible for staffing the volunteer positions at one of the Lakewood Home Tour Homes each year. Last year, JL Long received a donation of $40,000.00 from the Home Tour and we are hopeful to realize that amount again after the tour this year! The Home Captain’s for the JL Long Home are Ann Renneker and Nancy Ellis…both JL Long Parents of 6th Graders. Ann and Nancy will be at the home the entire weekend coordinating the successful showing of the JL Long Home located at 6906 Wildgrove Avenue. We need parents and teachers to volunteer to act as docents/tour guides for the weekend. This is a great opportunity for parents to get to know one another and some of the teachers and administrative staff at JL Long! Volunteer Shifts are Saturday, November 15th from 9 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 16th from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. You do not have to work the entire time…shifts are broken up thru the day, but you are encouraged to work two shifts if possible. Please use the following link to sign up for a shift at the JL Long Home…This link will take you directly to the volunteer page where you will need to register and select a shift. 6906 Wildgrove Avenue: JL Long Teachers and Parents For information about the Auction Party, Home Tour, Café & Market, please visit this page: General Home Tour Information
